I had this file cabinet that is very useful..

and black.

and plain..

so it thought…let’s slap some patterned vinyl on there and make it pretty…cause life’s too short to have boring things…

it sits under my desk (i’ve been thrift store shopping to find table legs that i love to put under this desk top….) but the file cabinet front is visible…

and i chose this pretty teal polka dot…

and grabbed a ruler, pencil, scissors (and an exacto knife (not pictured…well..it’s pictured later…) and my two drawer file used a 12×24 piece of vinyl (i had to piece the bottom a little around the lock)

I just wanted to cover the fronts of the cabinet and i found out it helps to pull out the drawer at little while you do it…

i just cut the vinyl to size…and unpeeled the backing off a little ways and attached the top…then i started smoothing it down and then i would take a little more off the back and smooth that down…it went really quick!

but i was left with the handle all covered….

see..here’s the exacto knife! i just cut out around it!

such a quick easy project–it only took minutes…! and you don’t have to have a cutting machine to do it.
now if only i could clean my desk it would all look so nice!!!!

and here’s so more great ideas that you could do with a file cabinet (or dresser) with vinyl…

you could use all these fun patterned vinyl on each drawer!

go HERE to see all the fun patterended vinyl!
or if you have a cutter..you could cut some cute shapes…
cut some stripes…
and did you know expressions vinyl has chalkboard vinyl?
(go here and scroll down to speciality)
but you could cover the front in chalkboard and write yourself some reminders!
