Ever since moving into my house, I have been dying to do something to my cabinet doors in the bathroom. They were just too plain for my liking because the cupboard was purchased as a premade cupboard in a box, leaving no room for creativity.
I had to change that somehow. I meantioned it to my husband and he said I needed some Charlie Brown chevron stripes on it. I couldn’t agree more. Here is what you need to get this look on your boring cabinet doors…
*Outdoor vinyl from Expressions Vinyl (I did outdoor vinyl because it was going in the bathroom and would be getting wet often)
*Cricut using Sure Cuts a Lot or Silhouette cutter
The first thing you will want to do, is measure your cabinet doors so you know what size you need your vinyl to be.
Now, get on your computer and using a basic photo editing program like Publisher or Photoshop, create a chevron pattern by attaching lines at angles. Save this image and upload it in Sure Cuts a Lot. Space this chevron pattern and repeat over and over again. Be sure that the space between your chevron pattern is the same width as your chevron pattern itself. These spaces will be used as chevron strips too.
Measure out your door space again to decide where you want to start your chevron print. Line up your vinyl edge with the edge of where you want it and press the vinyl on.
Measure out the same width of the vinyl and leave that space empty. Put the second piece of vinyl on and repeat.
Repeat these steps over and over again until all of your space is taken up. Be sure to keep your ruler handy so you can be sure your chevron strips are straight.
Keep repeating until you get vinyl on all of the surface you want covered.
Now you can love your cheapo cabinets as much as I love mine now!
