Happy Halloween from Stephanie at A Geek In Glasses!!!
I love Halloween and thought that this would be a great project to share to get everyone in the spirit. This simple vinyl craft can light up the night and look classy too.
For this project you will need a glass block, I found mine at the major chain home improvement store but a lot of craft stores have been carrying them too. I used Indoor Black Vinyl and my own Haunted House svg file.
I cut the Haunted House out using the Cricut machine. Next remove the unwanted pieces and apply the transfer sheet. Then place the cutout on the glass block.
I only used one cut out but if you wanted to make this a 2 sided decoration a second house could be applied to the backside. To do this cut the other house out in a mirror or reverse, this will make the peaks of the houses line up.
The final touch is a battery tea light.
Hope this adds a little spooky glow to your Halloween Decore.

cute!! i have the perfect spot to put one of these – thanks for the tutorial
I was wondering if you bought your block from a home depot store was there a hole all ready in the block? If not what did you use to make the hole… to get the tea light inside.
The block I purchased already had a hole larger than a tea light in the bottom. It came with a plastic cork or plug to cover the hole. There was a large display of them one day at the store and they were more expensive than the glass blocks they use for windows and building, but I went with this one since it already had a hole. My mother-in-law was successful in drilling a half inch hole in the window type blocks. She then fed in a string of white lights to light her block. These have become very popular in crafts, you may want to try a crafting store for one with a hole. Hope this helps.
I saw this last week and while teaching classes at my girlfriend’s LSS this weekend I saw a package of the cutest little bats. Thought they might add a nice 3-D touch to the corners of the block or flying out of the house. Can’t wait to get started!
Thanks. Could you tell me what she used to drill the hole… was it a diamond bit?
I think it was a diamond bit and I think they said to go slow.
Use a drill bit for glass. Snag one at your home improvement store. They cost any where from 6-20 bucks so shop around. when drilling go slow and use water…I put mine on a towel in the sink to prevent slipping. Drill slowly and with the running water. Keeps the bit from getting too hot and the glass dust from going all over! You will have to make sure not to get water into the block. Hard to get out! Once you get close, stop the running water, and just add a drop or too when your about to break thru. Hope it helps! Ive drilled lost of glass blocks and wine bottles!
