Here at ExpressionsVinyl we are no strangers to making donations to good causes. We often make donations of either money or product to a variety of people and groups in various circumstances. However, these generally don’t hit very close to home.
In the past we have even called on our customers and fans to contribute to these in some way although we generally like to just make donations without fanfare because we have been blessed with a prosperous business and we don’t want to do good things just for the publicity. We want to do them just because it’s right.
This last week we learned about a situation with one of our friends and neighbors who have been trying to sell their home for some time. They have been in need of selling this home due to the turn in the economy that has negatively affected so many. Recently they had come to an agreement to sell the home. The trouble is that just a couple hours before they were due to sign papers to complete the transaction they learned that they were about to sell their home to some people that one of the new residents has an extensive criminal record and had been involved in a 3 hour standoff with police just two days earlier.
When they learned of this news they decided that they could not sell their home to these people and for two main reasons. First and foremost that their daughter and grandchildren live next door and also operate a pre-school from their home. Number two that they love their neighbors and did not want to bring that kind of potential activity to the neighborhood.
There have been several parties involved in this from realtors, to banks and titles companies, as well as the landlord where they were going to be renting after their departure. All of these people having a financial interest in the transaction. All these people except the buyer’s real estate agent agreed that this was a reasonable decision and agreed that they would not seek any monies they felt were owed to them.
Now the buyer’s agent is suing our dear friends and neighbors for the lost commission as well as legal fees for breach of contract. This is a hard hit for a family who is already in desperation to sell a home.
The simple fact of the matter is that this agent is within their right by law to do this. From our research it seems that most agents would never pursue this because it is generally regarded as unethical since it only lines their pockets and does not actually do anything for the buyer they represent. They are being sued for nearly $11,000.
This weekend there have been various neighborhood and community fundraisers to help these people. Between these they have raised a little over 25% of the money needed. Now I am not certain of the circumstances but understand that if they do not settle by Tuesday the 7th it will further complicate the matter and in turn increase the cost of the situation.
We have carefully considered this situation and how we can help more. So we thought why not reach out to the vinyl community for more help. We want to be clear that we don’t really love the idea of essentially begging from our customers and fans, but it seemed logical given the circumstances. This will not become any kind of regular practice by us. We are indeed grateful to the friends for choosing not to bring that near us.
Now we understand many people are in dire financial situations and that you may not agree with this situation or may be indifferent on it and that is your prerogative. All we ask is that if you disagree with us and our friends that you please just choose not to donate and move on. If you feel for these folks and have the means to help, even if it’s just a dollar or two, then please make a donation.
We have personally contributed to our friends but want to do more. However we can’t nearly afford to donate the full amount they need. But what we will do is match any contributions of our wonderful customers and fans up to $2000. As a business and a family we just can’t afford much more than that at this time. So we hope you can help.
We can’t express with words how much we appreciate our loyal customers and fans. Without you our business would be nothing. So THANK YOU!!! From the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
Carl and Jessica Tyger

Wow, too bad he doesnt have a registered sex offender status (or does he?) that would prevent him from residing next to a school. I dont blame them for not wanting to sell. I would help but have a house to sell myself and one I just paid off, sort of, had to get a loan for what I didnt have. Now Im broke and it sucks!! Good luck guys! Go on gofundme.com real quick and make a page, I guess the quickest way is cut and paste your note here and cross your fingers!!!
This is an outrage! I have made a small donation and I wish I could do more. I am currently laid off but hope my donation helps out. I wish you could tell us who this Realtor is but I know you are unable to. I know I wouldn’t want to hire them. Please let your friends know that I respect and admire them for their character. May God bless.
Hi Y’all,
My name is Sarah T. I operate traubroyalt on etsy and Sarahsworld4u YouTube channel. I donate 10% off all my profits to doing good were ever I see a need. I sent a little bit your way. I’m not a big company and yes my family is hurting VERY BADLY from this economy too but I hope this little bit helps.
This is ridiculous. I think that the more appropriate thing to do would be to publicize the name of the realtor who is suing them. That way they can never take advantage of a customer like this again. They do not deserve the money. How does someone who should be in jail get a bank loan for a home? A stand-off just two days earlier and they are not in jail at the time of the closing? Doesn’t sound right to me.
If the realtor is mentioned in such a way the whole thing could blow up in to an even bigger deal. That’s our laws for ya. The person getting the loan is not the one who had the standoff. He just would have been a resident at the home…
This is nuts. Very selfish world we live in if the realtor is sueing. I fully understand the need to sell a home and get our from underneath debt. Hope my donation helps!
Wow, what a great story. Tell your friends to keep their chin up. Life has a funny way of working itself out….wish I could give more!
I have donated, however, I do agree with Chrissy regarding the realtor/broker. The LAST thing a real estate company needs/wants is bad publicity. They get their business by involving themselves in the community (Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, etc). Telling people that it would be worse if their name is mentioned is a scare tactic. If everything you have told us is true, there are no grounds for a lawsuit with regard to libel or slander. If you don’t want to do anything before Tuesday, then after payment is made the family should tell what happened on Change.org by starting a petition. This would spread like wildfire and could very well result in the money being returned. Bad laws are meant to be changed by good people.
You are correct, however another lawsuit may be initiated from regardless of which side is in the right… Good suggestion though.
AND…. if a lawsuit is filed, the names of the parties is public record anyway.
I did not see how to donate.
There’s a donate button at the bottom of the post here.
God bless you and your friends!
If convicted the man could not live next to a school. I’m sorry for your friends and messed up systems that allows this to take place. Also that the realtor should be so unethical, this should be published.
I hope everything works out for them. I went back in my records and took the amount I have saved on my orders using your generous coupons and donated that amount.
Thank you!
Praying that everything works out. With prayers, all things are possible…. My family and I would love to help, but with our financial situation, we can’t afford it. But we will pray for them !!
Sad that this realtor has no ethics! I wish I could donate more, but at this time, I cannot. My prayers are with the family!
Sad! Well I’m about to leave on an LDS mission and had $10 leftover from buying all my supplies, so there you go!
Having just sold a home, I know how much stress and anxiety is involved in the process even when everything is going well. I am so sorry for your friends’ unfortunate circumstances. I hope that my donation a long with all the others will help these people to keep their faith in humanity strong. Even with all the losers out there, I think most of us as a society like to see our neighbors happy and thriving. And bless you guys for putting yourselves and your company behind your friends. That shows true loyalty.
I hope they are able to raise the money by the deadline and that our donations help them know that other people care and are praying for them.
Couldn’t give much, but hope it helps! Praying for God’s blessings on you and your neighbors, and for a quick resolution with minimal expenditures on their part!
First of all, I think your company is the greatest! Not only in products, but for having big and generous hearts! What a wonderful thing to do for a friend. It speaks volumes about the type of people you are. I will pray that everything works out for your friend who did the right thing, put values, safety, and peoples lives before their own. It would have been so easy to turn their back and walk away from the situation, but they chose the hard road, and of course the right road. Too many people now days put themselves first and don’t worry about the next guy. I am making a donation, even though it’s not a great amount, I am hoping that others will do the same, and relieve their struggle. Please keep us updated as to how the situation turned out. I am hoping for the best for them! Keep smiling!!!!!
bless you for getting involved and sending this out. My prayers are will all invoved in such a sad curcumstance. Sad that people are law suit happy. I hope and pray that all works out and God can bless them. Seeing people that don’t even know them will reinforce them that God is still watching over them even when things seem bleak. I hope their faith gets strenghened and everyone reading your note and all the reply’s can see that there is still so much Hope for the world we live in. Thanks for letting us help. I have always liked your company and directed others to shop there but now you are on top #1. When you put others above yourself and take a chance by doing this, I so respect you! Keep us posted if you can to let us know how it all turns out. I donated today, blessings to all.
Andrea is right – if there is a lawsuit that is public record. I tried to donate but have to find my password first!
It’s such a shame that people are more interested in money/success for themselves than doing good even if it means being cruel and unethical. I don’t have much to donate, but hope my small contribution will help when combined with others. Prayers for you and your friends.
Such a sad story.
My husband is a realtor so I see both sides…that realtor was probably counting on that commission to feed their family. Realtor’s spend way more time and money selling a persons house then most realize…he/she probably spent a lot of time and money marketing, listing, etc that they will never recover. It’s a VERY tough industry to be in right now.
Having said that, I know my husband (and our family) would’ve taken the hit on the deal and been done with it no matter how devastating (and it would have been)…especially given the circumstances of the buyer.
I wish I could donate but it’s not possible right now for us either. Hoping and praying that they get things worked out.
SO SO Sorry. We need to sell our home also and its horrid out there. I am so sorry that the realtor is trying to sue them.
I’d like to help but can’t find the donate button. Kudos to you and your kind heart! Both families and the realtor are in my prayers…sounds like they ALL need God’s touching hands on their lives.
