Today is an extra special day… MY BIRTHDAY! In honor of my birthday and Expressions Vinyl’s soon to be birthday, I thought I would make a birthday banner. I am not much of a sewer, so I needed a no sew option!
Here is what you will need…
* 7 colors of indoor vinyl from Expressions Vinyl (6 of them for the background colors, and 1 of them for the letters)
* Twine, ribbon, yarn, jute or whatever you want to use to string your banner (I used baker’s twine)
* Cricut or Silhouette cutting machine
First, you need to cut your vinyl into circles. One for each letter (13 if you are spelling “Happy Birthday”) I did 6 inch circles for mine. Then you want to lay your circle down with the sticky side up and lay your string on top, going across your circle in the middle.
Carefully fold your circle in half, over the string. It is easiest if you line the edges up first, then push it down towards the top, by the string.
Continue these steps by alternating colors until you have used all of your circles.
Measure your half circles (it should just be half of what your full circle was) to see how big to make the letters for your banner.
Cut out the letters with your vinyl you had put away for your words. My half circles were roughly 3 inches tall, so I made my letters 2.5 inches tall. Stick your letters in the center of your half circles to spell out the words you want on your banner.
Cut your string off to match the other end and hang up your banner!
This seriously only took me about a half hour to make and it makes such a fun, bright decoration! Enjoy!

cute. And if you don’t add a name, you can use it for anyone’s birthday.
